After his last album "Error 404: Metaphorical Loss" Nicolas Van Meirhaeghe aka Sa-Ocin focused not only on his live performances at all important electronica and industrial festivals but also on his development as a musician in his other projects: This Morn' Omina and Tzolk’in, Project Arctic and as a live member of Ah Cama-Sotz. The result of this progress is found in "The Hatred of Trees", an astonishing and unique piece of dark epic industrial electronica with smooth tribal rhythms.
The music will take you to a journey through dark and threatening places, deep feelings, mystic glades, fallen empires, buried dreams, haunted woods and forgotten old worlds – the soundtrack for your darkest fantasies.

Naevus - Relatively Close To The Sea [2008]
1 Relatively Close To The Sea (4:27)
2 Traffic Island (3:56)
3 Meat On Meat (5:19)
4 The German (6:48)
5 Dented Mess (2:28)
6 The Troubadour (4:02)
7 Go Grow (17:40)
8 Relatively Close To The Sea (Reprise) (0:43)
For the sixth Naevus album, Relatively Close to the Sea, Lloyd James (voice, acoustic guitar, keyboards) and Joanne Owen (bass, accordion, keyboards) joined by their regular drummer John Murphy (Knifeladder, Shining Vril). The album also features contributions from Greg Ferrari (Womb) on electric guitar, Joanna Quail (SonVer) on cello, Matt Howden (Sieben) on violin; and Arthur Shaw (Cutty Sark) on keyboard. Dominic O’Connor (eulogised in Silent Life’s ‘Dominic Song’) is there in spirit – the album includes a cover version of one of his compositions, previously unreleased in any form. Many of the tracks here have already been performed live in recent Naevus festival appearances, notably ‘Meat On Meat’, which is close in temperament to the preceding album Silent Life. However, the remainder of the tracks on offer branch out in a range of other directions; ‘Dented Mess’ harks back to the existential pop elements of Truffles of Love; ‘The German’ is a dalliance with Schlager-esque murder balladry; while the title track itself combines slide guitar and lo-fi synths with the Naevus band sound. The centrepiece of the album, and Naevus’ greatest recorded work to date, is the 18-minute ‘Go Grow’, takes the progressive influences that have been present in Naevus since the beginning (Hawkwind, Pink Floyd, etc.) and weds them with soaring cello and John Cale-esque piano pounding to produce a sublime epic. Relatively Close to the Sea is packaged in a digipak with 12 page booklet including lyrics.

'O Quam Tristis…' have mastered their art with 'Les Chants Funestes' and have delivered an eloquent fourth album of inspiring music.
Female and male vocal polyphonies inspired by music going from the Middle Age down to the Baroque Era using acoustic traditional or medieval instrumentation and modern electronics in harmony, without losing the sacral and medieval character of their music. Synthesizers and bass guitar join the electronic rhythms, contributing a rock and liturgical feeling to the compositions, based on ancient secular and liturgical poetries.
'Les Chants Funestes' delves more deeply into rock and electronic influences than their previous albums. Emeric Lenotz, Katrina Koslowska, Tomek Ashkenazy Isaac, Anna Virsky and Hugues Dammarie (Collection d'Arnell-Andrea, Thy Violent Vanities…) will capture your attention and hold it throughout their music.

"Humanity Needs No Funeral", the first full-length album from AERE AETERNUS, was released on the French label Kaosthetik. With a multi-national and eclectic lineup, the band comprises Alex (MACABRE OMEN, THE ONE, RAZOR OF OCCAM), Claudio Alcara (FROSTMOON ECLIPSE, STROSZEK), Cyr (DARK SANCTUARY, ELKTRONIK SCIETY) and Radu. Drawing on the wide range and considerable musical experience of its members, AERE AETERNUS creates a dark, disturbing atmosphere that probably best fits within the ambient and minimalist genres, and which the band themselves describe as "half misanthropic ritual and half sex ritual."
The dominant atmosphere combines a sense of impending insanity with sexual deviancy and a large dollop of occultism, creating a dark and troubling misanthropic sojourn that is relatively unique. The final track is probably the most musical, as it is centred on a guitar arpeggio, but no such concessions to convention are present elsewhere on this deeply troubling disk. The accompanying video of "Invocation" shows a Satanic ritual in all its kitchsy glory. Recommended for those looking for something a bit darker than the usual Cold Meat entities.

The Joy of Nature is a multimedia project from the Azores, with music as its main focus (the Azores are a group of 9 islands between Europe and North America, belonging to Portugal). It was created in 1999 as "The Joy of Nature and Discipline," and reduced to "The Joy of Nature" in 2006, following a change in its sound - more organic and acoustic. Musically, "The Joy of Nature" is like a serpent always renewing itself - never resting in one shape, changing the form but keeping the same essence. "Swirling Lands of Disquiet and Catharsis" is the first part of a trilogy entitled "The Empty Circle." Each part of the trilogy has a correspondence with the three main hermetic-alchemical phases: Nigredo, Albedo and Rubedo and, at the same time and correspondingly, to individual experience, inheritance of our ancestors and, finally, the overcoming of a mere individual state of existence. This first part corresponds to Nigredo. The subtitle of this work - "A Theatre lost in The Vast Abyss of Starry Skies" came in a lucid dream in which appeared the idea that this world in which we live our day-to-day lives can be compared to a small theatre in a vast abyss of starry skies. This album is about a world of disquiet, in which a catharsis should be done. To gather the impurities, realize their nature and build something pure from there. The music follows the concept - there are elements of Folk, Ambient, Psychedelic and Experimental music, mixed in a coherent way, creating a unique sound and a breathtaking atmosphere, predominantly acoustic and with dark tones.

The Stargazer's Assistant - The Other Side of the Island (2007)
"We find no vestige of a beginning, no prospect of an end" - James Hutton, Theory of the Earth, 1795.
Deep underground, life moves slowly. Once teeming with insect and amphibian life, the great swamps of the Carboniferous era were buried under the weight of 300 million years, eventually returning to the surface as coal. In this new form they would be consumed in fires and furnaces for three thousand years before blackening the lungs of Empire and driving the Industrial Revolution. It was then that James Hutton, the first geologist, began to consider the depths beneath our feet and the unimaginable abyss of time that they represent. This is the world of The Stargazer's Assistant. This is the forge of the Earth. This is deep time.
The Other Side Of The Island is the soundtrack to the sculptural works collected under the same name, both being the work of David J Smith. In addition to his percussion duties with Guapo, Smith has spent the last two years bringing his visions to life; life that emerged slowly, painstakingly, out of wax, coal, copper and lead. In much the same way, the soundtrack itself slowly writhes organically before the listener: the groan of the motherlode, the shifting of tectonic plates, the song of the Earth's crust. In collaboration with longstanding musical cohort Daniel O'Sullivan (with whom Smith plays in Miasma & The Carousel Of Headless Horses) and audio engineer Antti Uusumaki, Smith has created a strange work comprising of layered vocals, percussion, electronics and prepared strings.

TERRA SANCTA - Aeon (2004)
Terra Sancta is the music project from an Australian, Greg Good.Terra Sancta translates literally as 'sacred earth'. It is a historical term for the 'holy land' of Israel/Palestine.refers to a place of such reverence for three religions, but also a place of perpetual conflict. Musically, Terra Sancta reflects this spiritual aura as well as the darker undercurrents. However don't intend to be related with any political or religious statements with the music, the project and song names are more like metaphors.
The music of Terra Sancta moves on territories like dark ritualistic and Industrial ambient soundtracks.
"Aion" moves on dark ambient roots like the sound of this artists Yen Pox, Caul, Inade, Blood Box. The music is a descent from air to earth that comes bearing down with a crushing, cosmic weight, sending out cataclysmic eruptions of blinding sonic dust across an already wind swept and barren landscape, where we can find a vibrant, isokinetic piece climaxing in tumultuous, majestic patterns, time and time again.

P.S. You can find another album of Terra Sancta on my own music blog, http://ritualisticnature.blogspot.com/ , that album its not here becouse its more connected with the sound that i post there.

Review:
"My (musical) world is a little bit dark. . . a little bit off-center. I think of it as tragically beautiful. That is how I would describe what I love best: tragically beautiful." Angelo Badalamenti
Today's working hypothesis is no composer was ever more important to the success of a television show than Angelo Badalamenti was for his work on the David Lynch televison cult hit "Twin Peaks" (1990-91).
The criteria here is not just coming up with a memorable instrumental theme song (in which case we just pick Lalo Schifrin for "Mission Impossible"), but the scoring of various episodes over the course of several seasons. By that standard what is the competition? Jan Hammer's work on "Miami Vice" got a lot of publicity, but when you think of the soundtrack for that show you are just as likely to think of Glenn Frey's "Smuggler's Blues" and Phil Collins' "In the Air Tonight" as you are the show's theme song or other incidental music. For me the close second would be w.g. snuffy walden's work on "thirtysomething," but that superb work (especially "second look") never received the publicity that Badalamenti did with "Twin Peaks" (Population 51,201).
Besides the memorable main theme you have the haunting "Laura Palmer's Theme" and the quirky little "Dance of the Dream Man." The former was used in different variations to different effects throughout the series, eloquently underscoring the twists and turns in the search for her killer. Even when David Lynch writes some lyrics for Julee Cruise to sing, the mood produced by the music never changed. It is amazing to me how you could always be aware of what Badalamenti was doing while watching "Twin Peaks," yet the music never becomes intrusive or overwhelming. Instead it is a perfect compliment to the story and pictures. And remember:
That gum you like, it's coming back in style...
A classic... enough said!
