Ataraxia - Nosce Te Ipsum [2008]

1 Prophetia
2 Aigues Mortes
3 Tu Es La Force Du Silence
4 Flée Et Fabian
5 Nosce Te Ipsum
6 Zweistimmenstäuschung
7 Torquemada
8 Incabala

Nosce Te Ipsum is a new step into the ancient times of this very important medieval band from Italy! The status of Ataraxia is one of the most important worldwide with lot of excellent albums. Now they return with an amazing re - release with another title of a long deleted album.

The songs were taken from the 1991 homonym Ataraxia’s demo tape previously included in Ad perpetuam rei memoriam. ...the states of mind and heart collected in the pages of a voluminous book, "Prophetia". Is destiny driven by accident or by Fortune? A Kafkian succession of questions without answer in a re-created inquisitorial trial of our times, the slow march of a humanity who tries desperately and unsuccessfully to know itself bearing the burden of its own chaotic existence and blindness. Finally, an act of rebellion and courage, an awakened consciousness that could lead to a new birth and refound harmony in the fluid cycle of Nature where every gesture and sound acquires a metaphysical value. Will we be able to transform the wrought material into Gold?

Hekate - Sonnentanz (2000)

1- Der Nibelunge Nôt *
2- To Break A Heart
3- L' Ivresse
4- In Deinem Leben
5- Findhorn
6- Fatherland
7- Dos Kelbl
8- Du Mein Einzig
9- Danse De L' Obscurité
10- Die Sonne Im Geiste
11- Die Gedanken Sind Frei
12- Sonnentanz

* Track 1 was divided into two tracks

This is the first full-lenght album from Hekate, “Sonnentanz”, proves its evolution. The music is sort of a mixture of neo-folk and medieval styles, completed with powerful drumming and use of electronics. Hekate consists of many members and a rich instrumentarium and with several vocalists (male and female), so that the songs are pretty varied. Sometimes it sounds bombastic, with martial drums and trumpets, sometimes fragile and beautiful with female voices and acoustic guitars and strings. Most lyrics are in German, but there are also texts in French, Yiddish and old German. My favourite track is "Du mein einzig", and was my first approach to the sound of Hekate, that was in V.A. Miroque Vol. VI, that i buy some years ago.

The Moon Lay Hidden Beneath A Cloud - Yndalongg [1996, Vinyl, 10"]

A1 - Untitled
A2 - Untitled
B - Untitled

Yndalongg (ART 4) containing three previously unreleased tracks, all recorded at Little Saxam Church, Suffolk
The A side is more typical of the duo's normal style,
first track concerns the heinous 'Children's Crusade' of 1212 in which corrupt merchants traded on Christian zeal to transport thousands of children from Marseilles to Alexandria where they were sold into slavery. The song has a strong melody line, clever counterpoising of Elisabeth's two vocal tracks. The second track appears to be a thematic sequel.
The B side has a laid-back, ambient-industrial instrumental which is very like some Nurse With Wound.

Yndalongg is a 10" and comes in a grey sleeve with a grey poster featuring the group's logo. Limited edition to 555 copies.

CONSCIENTIA PECCATI - Draco Rex [2004]

5- Queen Ov Flames
6- Draco Rex
8- Cloud
9- Claw And Flame
10- Princess
11- Lady Ov Water
12- Lure
13- Throne
Draco Rex is the 10th anniversary of Conscientia Peccati. The project started in 1994 with the release of the "Theogonia" Tape at Art Konkret. The topic of this release is the dragon, the best-known mystical beasts and also offers vast variations in form and interpretation. While in Christian culture it is seen as a destructive servant of Satan, in China it can be a lucky charm bringing fertility and prosperity. The tracks of this work try to represent these different aspects. Some show the playful nature of the dragons, which are often said to be lovers of beautiful music. Others address the destructive nature of the dragons or the battles against them. There are songs about dragon worship, stories about the deeds of dragons and about their role in society. Poes "Conqueror Worm" also appears in one track, still bloodthirsty.
To reflect all these aspects, the album consists of musical styles ranging from Marches via Dark Ambient to simple instrumental melodies. "Conqueror Worm", due to its folkloristic topic, may be the Conscientia Peccati release with the strongest middle-age influences to date.
(words taken from Palace of Warms)

Limited edition to 333 handnumbered copies, mine is the 154 :)

" The castle ruins continue cursed.Black words of victory are now listen. A new order emerge from the silence. The standards where risen to the wind on the proclamation of heretic rites. Meanwhile, the intense and painful fog proceed. Angels chants invade our body, that is tortured on the front of our eyes. Alzebeth voice invoke the eternal blood...the Graal search is incessant and obsessive, like the religion images. Cristh is again crucify by the Alzbeth chant, with the sounds of Julius and words of Crowley, that are reveal by the moon and the sounding fog. Tradicional melodies drag appear to is own slow agonizing decomposition. The holy nation is involve by a atmosphere were scottish sounds and movie pictures by Kenneth Branagh, mix up on a spiral to the final battle."

“ Skeletons dance trough the marching sound of the pagan warriors. Two faces, Albin and Alzbeth. An austrian scream by the night. Few words…the mystery persist. The Moon Lay Hidden Beneath a Cloud were Alzbeth and Albin Julius ( Der Blutharsch). The project name describe a phenomenon that occur in every place on earth, its a real situation that we can present. This situation provoke different reactions and experiences on people. Some feel exalted others stronger, free, depressed or puzzled with the scenery. But all feel noble with the phenomenon. The TMLHBAC music must be feel by the listener in personal way, This is the reason why they never put names on tracks and label their music, the space is open to fantasy…

“ On the begin Arthur was transported to Avalon. Bloody bells and drums mourn over is leaving. Meanwhile in the Round Table swords were raise on silence. In the woods an orgiastic dance was performed around the incandescent fire. Gloomy dances with fairys that mixed with the bewitch virgins by the immortal dragons. Lancelot notice from the mist…”

Lupercalia’s early days date back to 1999, when the duo made up of classical guitarist Riccardo Prencipe and violinist Pierangelo Fevola started experimenting various arrangements based around Riccardo’s music, using inspiration from several artistic and literary sources.

The concept of transforming visual imagery into sound was persued by the duo since its inception - through their compositions, theatric images of ancient and popular life were reborn, often through the aid of additional synthesizers and samples, as well as self-made replicas of ancient instruments, which allowed this Italian project to achieve a peculiar formula that translated Gothic and Baroque music into a contemporary language through both modern and old instrumentation.
