02 Undead Soil (6:53)
03 Fragments Of Cerebral Dimensions (10:35)
04 Hard Boiled Wonderland (Inspired By H. Murakami) (8:07)

After his last album "Error 404: Metaphorical Loss" Nicolas Van Meirhaeghe aka Sa-Ocin focused not only on his live performances at all important electronica and industrial festivals but also on his development as a musician in his other projects: This Morn' Omina and Tzolk’in, Project Arctic and as a live member of Ah Cama-Sotz. The result of this progress is found in "The Hatred of Trees", an astonishing and unique piece of dark epic industrial electronica with smooth tribal rhythms.

The music will take you to a journey through dark and threatening places, deep feelings, mystic glades, fallen empires, buried dreams, haunted woods and forgotten old worlds – the soundtrack for your darkest fantasies.

Naevus - Relatively Close To The Sea [2008]

1 Relatively Close To The Sea (4:27)
2 Traffic Island (3:56)
3 Meat On Meat (5:19)
4 The German (6:48)
5 Dented Mess (2:28)
6 The Troubadour (4:02)
7 Go Grow (17:40)
8 Relatively Close To The Sea (Reprise) (0:43)

For the sixth Naevus album, Relatively Close to the Sea, Lloyd James (voice, acoustic guitar, keyboards) and Joanne Owen (bass, accordion, keyboards) joined by their regular drummer John Murphy (Knifeladder, Shining Vril). The album also features contributions from Greg Ferrari (Womb) on electric guitar, Joanna Quail (SonVer) on cello, Matt Howden (Sieben) on violin; and Arthur Shaw (Cutty Sark) on keyboard. Dominic O’Connor (eulogised in Silent Life’s ‘Dominic Song’) is there in spirit – the album includes a cover version of one of his compositions, previously unreleased in any form. Many of the tracks here have already been performed live in recent Naevus festival appearances, notably ‘Meat On Meat’, which is close in temperament to the preceding album Silent Life. However, the remainder of the tracks on offer branch out in a range of other directions; ‘Dented Mess’ harks back to the existential pop elements of Truffles of Love; ‘The German’ is a dalliance with Schlager-esque murder balladry; while the title track itself combines slide guitar and lo-fi synths with the Naevus band sound. The centrepiece of the album, and Naevus’ greatest recorded work to date, is the 18-minute ‘Go Grow’, takes the progressive influences that have been present in Naevus since the beginning (Hawkwind, Pink Floyd, etc.) and weds them with soaring cello and John Cale-esque piano pounding to produce a sublime epic. Relatively Close to the Sea is packaged in a digipak with 12 page booklet including lyrics.

'O Quam Tristis…' have mastered their art with 'Les Chants Funestes' and have delivered an eloquent fourth album of inspiring music.
Female and male vocal polyphonies inspired by music going from the Middle Age down to the Baroque Era using acoustic traditional or medieval instrumentation and modern electronics in harmony, without losing the sacral and medieval character of their music. Synthesizers and bass guitar join the electronic rhythms, contributing a rock and liturgical feeling to the compositions, based on ancient secular and liturgical poetries.
'Les Chants Funestes' delves more deeply into rock and electronic influences than their previous albums. Emeric Lenotz, Katrina Koslowska, Tomek Ashkenazy Isaac, Anna Virsky and Hugues Dammarie (Collection d'Arnell-Andrea, Thy Violent Vanities…) will capture your attention and hold it throughout their music.

CAESAR URSIC - Lithophonia (2004)

1- Antiquarium
2- The Faint Metallic Glow
3- Gradual Decompression
4- The Past Is Prologue

Caesar Ursic's music slides through a world of forgotten ruins and sculpted sonorities, as to look for the very sources of microfossil stains. Grey perspectives accompany the listener throughout, indicating a steady path to obscurity that only seldom is interrupted by the appearance of a dim light observed through breaksin the wall. The weight of solitude is an always present heavy burden and the whole disc is an exercise in sustaining open-eyed nightmares.

The sounds in "Lithophonia" were captured in the original and old Highland Hospital in Oakland, California. For six months Caesar haunted its ramparts, underground labyrinths and great halls with a stereo microphone and digital recorder. In his words " Lithophonia is my attempt to capture the faded aural residues of human activity that once resonated through the now-abandoned pavilions, walkways and chambers of this grand old structure".

All sound sources were 'found'; none were produced or elicited. Reverberations, vibrations, occasional distant human voice intrusions, and the mechanized breaths of strange machines left to their automated chores in empty alcoves and dead-end corridors were collected. The digitally-manipulated results comprise the four movements of LITHOpHONIA. No synthesizers or other musical instruments were used at any point.

CDr Limited to 100 Copies.

"Humanity Needs No Funeral", the first full-length album from AERE AETERNUS, was released on the French label Kaosthetik. With a multi-national and eclectic lineup, the band comprises Alex (MACABRE OMEN, THE ONE, RAZOR OF OCCAM), Claudio Alcara (FROSTMOON ECLIPSE, STROSZEK), Cyr (DARK SANCTUARY, ELKTRONIK SCIETY) and Radu. Drawing on the wide range and considerable musical experience of its members, AERE AETERNUS creates a dark, disturbing atmosphere that probably best fits within the ambient and minimalist genres, and which the band themselves describe as "half misanthropic ritual and half sex ritual."

The dominant atmosphere combines a sense of impending insanity with sexual deviancy and a large dollop of occultism, creating a dark and troubling misanthropic sojourn that is relatively unique. The final track is probably the most musical, as it is centred on a guitar arpeggio, but no such concessions to convention are present elsewhere on this deeply troubling disk. The accompanying video of "Invocation" shows a Satanic ritual in all its kitchsy glory. Recommended for those looking for something a bit darker than the usual Cold Meat entities.

The Joy of Nature is a multimedia project from the Azores, with music as its main focus (the Azores are a group of 9 islands between Europe and North America, belonging to Portugal). It was created in 1999 as "The Joy of Nature and Discipline," and reduced to "The Joy of Nature" in 2006, following a change in its sound - more organic and acoustic. Musically, "The Joy of Nature" is like a serpent always renewing itself - never resting in one shape, changing the form but keeping the same essence. "Swirling Lands of Disquiet and Catharsis" is the first part of a trilogy entitled "The Empty Circle." Each part of the trilogy has a correspondence with the three main hermetic-alchemical phases: Nigredo, Albedo and Rubedo and, at the same time and correspondingly, to individual experience, inheritance of our ancestors and, finally, the overcoming of a mere individual state of existence. This first part corresponds to Nigredo. The subtitle of this work - "A Theatre lost in The Vast Abyss of Starry Skies" came in a lucid dream in which appeared the idea that this world in which we live our day-to-day lives can be compared to a small theatre in a vast abyss of starry skies. This album is about a world of disquiet, in which a catharsis should be done. To gather the impurities, realize their nature and build something pure from there. The music follows the concept - there are elements of Folk, Ambient, Psychedelic and Experimental music, mixed in a coherent way, creating a unique sound and a breathtaking atmosphere, predominantly acoustic and with dark tones.

The Stargazer's Assistant - The Other Side of the Island (2007)

"We find no vestige of a beginning, no prospect of an end" - James Hutton, Theory of the Earth, 1795.

Deep underground, life moves slowly. Once teeming with insect and amphibian life, the great swamps of the Carboniferous era were buried under the weight of 300 million years, eventually returning to the surface as coal. In this new form they would be consumed in fires and furnaces for three thousand years before blackening the lungs of Empire and driving the Industrial Revolution. It was then that James Hutton, the first geologist, began to consider the depths beneath our feet and the unimaginable abyss of time that they represent. This is the world of The Stargazer's Assistant. This is the forge of the Earth. This is deep time.

The Other Side Of The Island is the soundtrack to the sculptural works collected under the same name, both being the work of David J Smith. In addition to his percussion duties with Guapo, Smith has spent the last two years bringing his visions to life; life that emerged slowly, painstakingly, out of wax, coal, copper and lead. In much the same way, the soundtrack itself slowly writhes organically before the listener: the groan of the motherlode, the shifting of tectonic plates, the song of the Earth's crust. In collaboration with longstanding musical cohort Daniel O'Sullivan (with whom Smith plays in Miasma & The Carousel Of Headless Horses) and audio engineer Antti Uusumaki, Smith has created a strange work comprising of layered vocals, percussion, electronics and prepared strings.

TERRA SANCTA - Aeon (2004)

1- Cold Light Infusion
2- Black Sun
3- Blood Red Sea
4- Drowned (Desert Earth II)

Terra Sancta is the music project from an Australian, Greg Good.Terra Sancta translates literally as 'sacred earth'. It is a historical term for the 'holy land' of Israel/Palestine.refers to a place of such reverence for three religions, but also a place of perpetual conflict. Musically, Terra Sancta reflects this spiritual aura as well as the darker undercurrents. However don't intend to be related with any political or religious statements with the music, the project and song names are more like metaphors.
The music of Terra Sancta moves on territories like dark ritualistic and Industrial ambient soundtracks.

"Aion" moves on dark ambient roots like the sound of this artists Yen Pox, Caul, Inade, Blood Box. The music is a descent from air to earth that comes bearing down with a crushing, cosmic weight, sending out cataclysmic eruptions of blinding sonic dust across an already wind swept and barren landscape, where we can find a vibrant, isokinetic piece climaxing in tumultuous, majestic patterns, time and time again.

Review:

"My (musical) world is a little bit dark. . . a little bit off-center. I think of it as tragically beautiful. That is how I would describe what I love best: tragically beautiful." Angelo Badalamenti

Today's working hypothesis is no composer was ever more important to the success of a television show than Angelo Badalamenti was for his work on the David Lynch televison cult hit "Twin Peaks" (1990-91).

The criteria here is not just coming up with a memorable instrumental theme song (in which case we just pick Lalo Schifrin for "Mission Impossible"), but the scoring of various episodes over the course of several seasons. By that standard what is the competition? Jan Hammer's work on "Miami Vice" got a lot of publicity, but when you think of the soundtrack for that show you are just as likely to think of Glenn Frey's "Smuggler's Blues" and Phil Collins' "In the Air Tonight" as you are the show's theme song or other incidental music. For me the close second would be w.g. snuffy walden's work on "thirtysomething," but that superb work (especially "second look") never received the publicity that Badalamenti did with "Twin Peaks" (Population 51,201).

Besides the memorable main theme you have the haunting "Laura Palmer's Theme" and the quirky little "Dance of the Dream Man." The former was used in different variations to different effects throughout the series, eloquently underscoring the twists and turns in the search for her killer. Even when David Lynch writes some lyrics for Julee Cruise to sing, the mood produced by the music never changed. It is amazing to me how you could always be aware of what Badalamenti was doing while watching "Twin Peaks," yet the music never becomes intrusive or overwhelming. Instead it is a perfect compliment to the story and pictures. And remember:

That gum you like, it's coming back in style...

A classic... enough said!

About the Book:

In 1877, two gentlemen, Messrs Tonnison and Berreggnog, head into Ireland to spend a week fishing in the village of Kraighten. While there, they discover in the ruins of a very curious house a diary of the man who had once owned it. Its torn pages seem to hint at an evil beyond anything that existed on this side of the curtains of impossibility. This is a classic novel that worked to slowly bridge the gap between the British fantastic and supernatural authors of the later 19th century and modern horror fiction. Classic American horror writer H. P. Lovecraft lists this and other works by Hodgson among his greatest influences.

About The Album:

This musical adaptation of The House On The Borderland is the result of a collaboration between German musicians Rüdiger Gleisberg and Mathias Grassow, the founding duo behind Nostalgia, and Italian Luigi Seviroli, who suggested the concept to Gleisberg and Grassow. Track titles closely follow William Hope Hodgson’s original narrative, which concerns two friends on a fishing holiday in Ireland who discover a manuscript in a ruined house. The manuscript tells of its author’s encounters in the house with evil supernatural and extra-dimensional beings, culminating in the cosmic horror of helplessly watching throughout countless aeons as the earth and its solar system are consumed by the ‘Dark Sun’.

7 Freedom Found In Surrender (3:23)

"In the second installment of the Somnia series, a Portland based modern classical composer, Evan Bartholomew, continues his meditative descent through Secret Entries Into Darkness. The minimal ambient sound slightly curves around the deep entrance, brushing the wet moonlight on the cave's bold stone, before it breaks into sheaths of white, and vanishes with echoes.

Unlike its predecessor, this journey is more rhythmic and darker, sustaining an eerie and desolate feeling, as the composer dissects the abstract lines between the realms of life and death during our weightless dive into Xibalba. In his streaming hypnotic voyage, Bartholomew perfects his production and the art of revealing his soul to the listener through music. The gravity of the emotion is immediate and heavy; for when the album ends, we are left alone and helpless, at the bottom of the void, only to be born again."

This is a very limited Tape, the sound is pure energy flow, the noise comes and go, like the sinister voice that join this radiation, i only recommend this if you really like ambient experimental noise...
All the musics from A to B side are continuos, so this work only have two tracks.

P.s. I would like to know if people that came here like Bad Sector, i think i have all the discographie, i like his sound, and i dont now why...So say something in cbox, if you want, that i still post works from B.S.

Apoptose - Blutopfer [2002]

1 Apotropaion (9:40)
2 Blutopfer (5:00)
3 Prozession Der Augen (12:37)
4 Calanda (6:23)
5 In Die Nacht (5:32)
6 Zu Füßen Der Mutter (5:46)
7 Zuflucht (5:59)
This is the re-release (limited to 500) of the second Apoptose album originaly released in, 2002 nearly two years after the release of the CD "Nordland," this time treading on unexpected musical paths. Only occasionally does one still feel a faint breeze from the barren landscapes of the north, for on "Blutopfer" a special ritual of the south is celebrated: the Easter drumming processions of the little Spanish village of Calanda. Following a stay in Calanda in 1998, Apoptose could not forget the impression this festival made, since the primordial power of these archaic rhythms and the magic of the blood that flows from the hands of the drummers touches anyone who has ever witnessed it. The decision was made then to compile an album from the hours of documentary recordings which came into being during this time. However, it was not until the year 2001 that the time was finally right to start the project that in 2002 reached its final form in the CD "Blutopfer." The title is the German term for "blood sacrifice".
Contains drum samplings from the 1998 annual Semana Santa holy festival in Calanda village, Spain.
Purple-tinted disc packaged in an embossed digipak.

BOCKSHOLM - The Bocksholm Demos (?); Excursions By The Bank Of The Black River (2002)

Bocksholm is a colaborative project between Peter Andersson & Peter Andersson.
After some years of confusion by having two persons with the name Peter Andersson, both grown up in the small industrial town called Boxholm and making industrial music on the CMI label, there was almost no choice but to collaborate with each other in a project named Bocksholm (the old spelling of Boxholm). This collaboration between Raison D'etre and Deutsch Nepal started in 1998 and reflects the bad childhood environment of the ironworks in Boxholm."

David Darling - Dark Wood (1995)

David Darling is a cellist, and on Dark Wood he plays all the parts, multitracking himself playing in various registers and alternating between bowing and pizzicato techniques. The program consists of four suites, titled "Darkwood IV" through "Darkwood VII." However mannered the presentation may be, this music is really stunning. All of it moves slowly, like a dark cloud formation, as spare lines pile up on one other and pizzicato sections nudge up against long, sustained tones. "Dawn" and "New Morning," which are virtually identical compositions, bracket the program, and they are the loveliest tracks of all; where pieces like "Returning" and "Searching" hover in a sort of harmonic stasis, "Dawn" and "New Morning" move deliberately and gently through a definite chord progression, and the effect is almost cathartic. Highly recommended. - AMG

Herbst9 - The Gods Are Small Birds, But I Am The Falcon [2008]

1 The Laments Begin (5:58)
2 Must I Die? (Because Of My Holy Songs) (7:15)
3 Threshold Of Tears (5:47)
4 Enenuru (6:37)
5 The Gods Are Small Birds, But I Am The Falcon (8:08)
6 White Ashes (Black Smoke) (6:26)
7 ...And Everything Around Him Answered (7:37)
8 Shaking Ground (7:46)
9 Ilimmu (5:07)

The all new album of Herbst9 is a step further into the depths of the Assyrian and Asian mythologies, using authentic audio and visual fragments of sacrifices, lamentations, prayers and ancient rituals. The result is a deep labyrinth of sounds with meditative percussions, ghostly vocal fragments and singings which melts with detailed and multi-layered tones of various traditional instruments. All this is constructed around a core of dark and ongoing floating drones creating an atmosphere of true archaic music which has been developed by Herbst9 to perfection. This soundtrack is the secrecy from the deep and hidden places of the sacred earth transcending us beyond the real world to the inner realm of ourselves.
The CD is presented in 6-panel digipack.

"When humanity comes before you in awed silence at the terrifying radiance and tempest, you grasp the most terrible of all the divine powers. Because of you, the threshold of tears is opened, and people walk along the path of the house of great lamentations. With the lamenting balag drum a lament is struck up."

Knives Ov Resistance - Prisca Sapientia (2006)

This pan-European group of tape manipulators and guitar explorers have delivered something peculiarly beautiful to Aurora Borealis, an industrial folk album that harks back to the playful, pastoral era of Cosmic Couriers as well as the more recent Jewelled Antler Collective discography. Opener 'Rosicrucian' swells with spiral-picked melodies and thin electronic tides, evoking the serene cosmic folk of Witthuser and Westrupp. Elsewhere, the synth pulses and samples of 'Sovnig' shimmer amid the heat-haze of interlocked guitar mantras, grazing and unhurried. Knives Ov Resistance's gentle methods are more akin to long-lost troubadours such as Tom Rapp than Boards Of Canada; the mournful closing track 'Outremer' roars with operatic vocal cries and radio dispatches, the tendril-guitars diffused and murmuring. A precious and elegant debut. - Rocka-A-Rolla

SKROL - Dances and Marches for the Orphan Age (2005)

Skrol was formed in autumn 1995. It consisted of composer and polyinstrumentalist Vladimír Hirsch, singer Martina Sanollová and Tom Saivon, who provides noise structures and lyrics. Formation´s direction of creativity aims are based on original principles of modern form of classical music with its incorporation into a artificial space, using ambient and noise structures, characteristic for the contemporary post-industrial likeness of the world. The project has a mixture of avantgarde classical and industrial elements, but also many Slavic influences. Mastermind Hirsch is active in a variety of projects and is also no stranger to the academic aspects of avantgarde music. His works often have multiple underlying spiritual or scientific themes. The music of Skrol is certainly no easy listening, “Dances and Marches For The Orphan Age” is quite a dense and heavy structure. Religious organs and choirs are combined with percussive eruptions, industrial soundscapes and strange noises. In general the mood is threatening and apocalyptic, the sound often majestic and bombastic.
This work was record 1997-1999, but Vladimír Hirsch remixed and
remastered everything in 2002.

Ruhr Hunter - Moss & Memory (2006)

"Moss & Memory" is Chet W. Scott’s third full length work as Ruhr Hunter, one that has come a full decade since 1996 to this collection of telluric drones and cryptogamous soundscapes. In the face of modern humankind’s paring of nature, "Moss & Memory" evokes an atavism and reawakens the animism, which despite being overlooked by a technologically advanced society still pervades all essential beings but truly finds home where nature is unfettered. Gneissic mysticism, as layered as time is immemorial, "Moss & Memory" serves as postern to the wonder of the microcosm as it relates to the macrocosm, an embrasure through an isthmus of modernism and materialism.

The instruments subsumed into this album are too numerous to list here (though detailed in the liner notes of the album’s packaging), but range a gamut of acoustic instruments to organic samples of animals and the breathing of seasons, the oscillation of day and night. Susurrous drones shiver the undergrowth of the grove, eld and numinous, guitars meter languid melodies and dulcimer rills thread the boscage. With all bar one track pushing beyond ten minutes, there is a sense of changing landscape, of “journey”, as Chet W. Scott so enunciates on the very first track, signaling the cycle of life and death.

Terrene acoustics constantly drag the listener into fecund soil, hollowed animal horns and thunder chime together with throat singing shamanic observances as the forest endures, rain and congeries of birds and insects proscenium for ritual. Ruhr Hunter’s ambience is far from cathedrals of despair or the sealed caps of rotting cities, preferring to walk naked that chapel of life. - aural pressure

Red Needled Sea / Appes split (2007)

A three inch CDR that continues the experimental nature of the Cam Deas CDR. Fans of Dirty Demos and Blackest Rainbow will appreciate the long extended dark drifts, guitar and FX generated noise, vapours of tones and droning clouds of grey lustres. It's like a soundtrack to a film made somewhere in the former eastern block back when it had a reputation for all things totalitarian. On the other hand, it could be the soundtrack to a slow motion ballet, particularly the closing drawn-out finale. - Norman records

The mixture of styles and musical ages. Echoes of 70's electronic, new romantic of 80's (OMD, Numan, Heaven 17, Visage). A bit of industrial, a pinch of EBM, a touch of synth-pop. Second part of the specific interpretation of 19th and 20th Century poetry. This time in more gothic and electromantic "musical sauce". Achtung! No martial nor neo-folk songs. A very last album of Rukkanor.

Splendid collaborative work between Gustaf Hildebrand and Amanda Votta, Lacus Somniorum emerged as a mutual desire to convey a suggestive concept of what lies hidden and unseen by the eyes of modern civilization--beneath the waves in murky chasms, or perhaps in places not anchored within our concept of reality. Airy flutes and choirs hover above sometimes distant, rumbling sound textures, hinting of corroded machinery and unseen presences but also emphasizing a sense of serenity and peace of mind. The underlying concept is not fear of the unknown, but rather of a hidden beauty within those places where none of us will ever venture.

* Track 1 was divided into two tracks

This is the first full-lenght album from Hekate, “Sonnentanz”, proves its evolution. The music is sort of a mixture of neo-folk and medieval styles, completed with powerful drumming and use of electronics. Hekate consists of many members and a rich instrumentarium and with several vocalists (male and female), so that the songs are pretty varied. Sometimes it sounds bombastic, with martial drums and trumpets, sometimes fragile and beautiful with female voices and acoustic guitars and strings. Most lyrics are in German, but there are also texts in French, Yiddish and old German. My favourite track is "Du mein einzig", and was my first approach to the sound of Hekate, that was in V.A. Miroque Vol. VI, that i buy some years ago.

Kauan - Lumikuuro (2007)

This is the debut album from an eclectic Russian band named Kauan. This album incorporates lots of different influences, namely doom metal, black metal, ambient, folk, classical, and you'll even hear the odd sax. Despite the large amount of influences, this album does not feel in the least bit crowded or overly complex, they pulled it off very well, it's quite lo-fi and slow paced, in that sense the dominant characteristic of this album is largely of doom metal. The atmospheres created by the ambient keys, guitars and mix of clean and growled vocals come together very beautifully.

Released on BadMoodMan Music, sub-label of Solitude Productions.

The first studio album of Hybryds since “Electric Voodoo” (2002).
"Dreambient" is based on exploration of the female characters from the Pagan past: archetypes of the seducer, the demon, the girl, the whore, the slave, the mistress, the priest, the mother...
The music of the project has become more accessible for unexpirienced listeners: traditional ambient-ritual basement is enriched with rhythmic electronics, melodic synthesizer tunes and even guitar parts.
Vocals are now done by Madeline Arndt from the German darkwave/gothic band Schattenkinder.
One hour DVD contains “The Photoshop art of Sandy Viktor Nys”, the erotic esoteric videos from Hybryds mastermind – “Religion and erotica melds together on the stage of Eros and Thanatos”.

Two and a half years after “Sterbender Satyr”, Orplid are back with their fourth studio album “Greifenherz”.
In contrast to their previous outing, this album is filled with pathos, a belligerent and archaic piece of work.
“Greifenherz” is informed with a surprisingly hostile and cold atmosphere - a partially menacing and martial sound Orplid haven’t applied since some of the more violent outbursts of their early works.
Reflections of dreams about war, death, and decay.

" Hekate was formed in 1993, for the time being as an atonal-project. Hekates first ever performance was in the spring of the same year during an art exhibition at an advanced technical college in Koblenz. Soon there after, a fusion of several stylistic elements into a symbiosis emerged from the strong naturalistic-folkloric relation of each band-member. The music is mainlybased on the use of classical percussions like kettle drums, timpanis, snare- and bass drums and chinese gongs combined with acoustic guitars and middle-aged instruments as e.g. hurdy gurdy. The musical background is completed by use of modern synthesizers. The lyrics are presented by alternating male and female singing in German, English and French- and other tongues such as Latin, Jidish or Middle-Age-German. "
